Release notes
Qubu Ultralight for Grasshopper 1.3
Fixes and improvements
Ultralight for specialists: added a new DS Sensor Results to Hours component which substantially speeds up casting from DS Sensor to Number. This can speed up workflows where a large number of sensors is present.
Ultralight for Specialists: fixed Daylight Factor Raw component’s output values being out of order if the user provided more sensor trees than scenes
Ultralight for Specialists: the Mask DS Sensor Results component now allows completely dark sensors on output
Whitespace is now stripped when entering the license key
Improved performance on inputs with only a small number of sensors
Qubu Ultralight for Grasshopper 1.2
Fixes and improvements
Complete edition is now called “Ultralight for Grasshopper”. Designer edition is now called “Ultralight for Designers”. Engineer edition is now called “Ultralight for Specialists”
Ultralight for Specialists: Inputs of Solar Vector component have been reordered to match those of Direct Sunlight Raw component
Ultralight for Specialists: now includes two new components to help with Direct Sunlight evaluation: Mask DS Sensor Results and Overlay DS Sensor Results.
Ultralight for Designers: DS Window Results now shows the approximate preview of Solar Vectors (rays shot from the sensor towards the Sun), visualizing whether the ray hits the sun or an obstacle. This preview was originally only displayed for DS Sensor Results in the Complete Edition.
Ultralight for Specialists: DS Window Results and DS Sensor Results cast to point at the position of the sensor.
Ultralight for Specialists: Solar Vector now returns time intervals, elevation angles and north deviation angles for the generated solar vectors.
Ultralight for Specialists: Solar Vector now creates 1440 rays by default (1 per minute)
Ultralight for Designers: DS Window Results now casts to DS Sensor Results from Ultralight for Specialists
Qubu Ultralight for Grasshopper 1.1
Qubu Ultralight for Grasshopper now comes in two flavors: Designer Edition (this was already available as Ultralight 1.0) and the Complete Edition. The Complete Edition contains all features of the Designer edition, as well as additional low-level features useful for advanced Daylight Engineering.
Fixes and improvements
Handling of time zones and the computation of the sun's path is now more correct. This slightly influences Direct Sunlight results. Previous results could have been incorrect by approximately 1 minute of insolation.
Daylight Factor is now more precise for low ray counts. It previously used precomputed attenuation for a sky type to compute the final daylight factor for a sensor. Now attenuation is (very quickly) computed for the current ray-tracing settings, eliminating slight imprecisions.
All Scene Geometry parameters are now optional. It is now possible to measure on empty scenes without obstacles.
Designer Edition: Empty branches for Boundary Polylines now don't cause Daylight Factor to fail.
Designer Edition: Planarity check for Boundary Polylines for Daylight Factor is now more tolerant to prevent spurious issues with floating point precision.
Designer Edition: Rhino now doesn't need to think Boundary Polylines for Daylight Factor are closable.
Designer Edition: If no Orientation vector is specified, the Daylight Factor grid is automatically rotated for each room. We use two consecutive vertices of the Polyline to create the Orientation vector.
